This course examines group dynamics, development, and major theoretical approaches to group work. Students will explore how groups form and function, factors that influence group effectiveness, and leadership and member roles. Students will also develop skills in observing and analyzing group processes. The course prepares students to understand and work with groups in human services and related professions. Levels of experiential learning may vary by instructor and semester. Sections including higher experiential components (i.e., participating in a group experience) may require instructor permission for registration.
