Description:
This course continues with concepts learned in Songwriting I, and also introduces the concepts of writing on demand (jingles, TV and film music, event music, etc.). Students will learn title/concept development and write lyrics based on selected readings. Historical masters of composition and lyric writing will be analyzed. Participants will work individually and in small groups. In addition, students will learn to catalogue their works to keep their output organized, and develop other good professional habits and discipline. Furthermore, students will learn about the publishing industry, and the process of protecting their works through copyright and registration with a rights organization such as ASCAP or BMI.
