An introduction to engineering design and rapid prototyping required for engineering majors and open to makers, entrepreneurs, and those interested in learning to solve problems like an engineer. Students learn about engineering design through projects and rapid prototyping. **COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLOs) At the successful conclusion of this course, students will be able to: At the successful conclusion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Produce 2D engineering drawings and 3D models of components and systems using CAD software. 2. Develop solutions to problems using the engineering design process considering ethical and/or societal responsibilities and utilizing reputable sources. 3. Create mechanical designs by applying knowledge of energy, matter, and the design principles of joints, linkages, gear trains, and/or cams. 4. Work in a team to design and prototype a system using standard components and rapid prototyping techniques. Course fee required. Corequisites: MECH 1005. FA
