This one-credit introductory course provides foundational skills for effective communication in real-life situations in Japan. Students will learn survival Japanese, basic elements of the writing system, essential travel phrases, and an introduction to Japanese culture and customs. While designed for beginners with no prior knowledge of Japanese, it is open to all students. This course is particularly beneficial for those preparing for the faculty-led summer Tokyo program or planning to take JAPAN1010 in the following semester.
