Description:
A faculty-led, archaeological field school opportunity in Italy that allows students to gain hands-on excavation experience. Students will learn transferable skills in the field, contribute to cutting-edge archaeological research, and participate in an immersive cultural experience. Students will be trained in archaeological skills needed in the field and lab. They will be introduced to the basics of archaeological thinking and interpretation of archaeological data, and the ongoing importance of cultural heritage. Hands'on work will be supplemented by readings, discussions, and visits to nearby museums/historical sites. Admission to the field school is by application only. Applications are welcomed from both current University of Utah students, non-students and out-of-state students.
