This course investigates the design and analysis of modern data networks using the framework of the five-layer Internet service model. Application layer services and protocols are introduced through a survey of various TCP/IP applications. The fundamentals of the transport, network and data link layers are investigated in conjunction with key network protocols. Various wired and wireless physical layers are also studied. Math models are developed and used to better understand performance issues and compare approaches.
