Description:
Provides foundations in analyzing and delivering research-based language arts instruction to secondary grade students with disabilities, including second language learners with disabilities. Focuses on competencies for implementing intensive, evidence-based interventions to students who have learning disabilities in reading and writing, for monitoring student progress, and for modifying instruction as needed. Features language arts and literacy in the content areas curricula aligned with the Utah Core Standards English Language Arts Secondary and Utah Essential Standards English Language Arts Secondary. Prepares candidates to administer and analyze assessments and design appropriate interventions. Emphasizes evidence-based practices and empirically supported instruction for teaching reading and writing to students with disabilities.
