    This course introduces basic media arts production techniques. The course develops students' knowledge of the media arts, while fostering a creative environment in which students produce various types of media arts content. The course covers a wide range of projects that illustrate the current possibilities of the media arts as a relevant field of work for filmmakers, animators, digital artists, media arts experts, and artists in general.     This course presents an introduction to the fundamentals of animation and 2D computer animation techniques. The basic techniques of Photoshop (digital imaging), Aftereffects (digital motion graphics), and Animate (multimedia) will be introduced as the means to produce 2D animated images. With a combination of studio activities, screening, critiques, readings, writings, and discussions focusing on issues related to contemporary animated images and arts, students will understand various 2D and computer animation techniques and be exposed to various animation styles. Prerequisites: 'B-' or better in FILM 1500

    This course provides an introduction to techniques of three-dimensional computer graphics, as well as fundamental concepts and philosophy of animation. The techniques include 3D modeling, digital lighting and shading, and basic animation. While Maya is the primary software to complete course assignments, this class features a combination of studio activities, critiques, readings, writings, and discussions related to animation and digital media. Prerequisites: 'B-' or better in FILM 1610.

Exploration of cinematic vocabulary and storyboard technique in the creation of both personal and professional expression. Development of story that integrates classic story telling structure.     This course is designed to explore the ways actors create realistic, imaginative portrayals for film and television. During the process of memorizing and performing monologues and scenes, students will discover how to find objectives, overcome conflicts and learn the simplicity of acting in front of the camera.

    Students will visit Jeonju International Film Festival to experience the films, director Q & A's, events, and unique atmosphere that the event provides. Students will attend film screenings from the variety of programs hosted by Jeonju International Film Festival, as well as the Q & A's that take place with the directors to learn about the processes involved in indie filmmaking. Students will also attend the various events that are held by the festival, to hear from experts about important issues in the independent film industry. Following the festival, students will create a report about their experiences, including critical essays about the films watched, and what they learned about the Korean independent film industry.

Students will attend film screenings from the variety of programs hosted by Busan International Film Festival, as well as the Q&A's that take place with the directors to learn about the processes involved in filmmaking. Students will also attend the various events that are held by the festival, to hear from experts about important issues in the film industry. Following the festival, students will create a report about their experiences, including critical essays about the films watched, and what they learned about the film industry.
